My Story

No one saw it coming. I was the passenger in a 2-seater on Hwy 101 that rear-ended the car in front of us and got broadsided by the car behind us. When the EMT pulled me from the wreckage she was pleasantly surprised that I hadn’t died.

And I am grateful that I lived. So, I used it as an opportunity, the proverbial ‘gift in the wound’.

But first, I had to get off the couch…

Post-collision, I lost my short-term memory. I watched old movies on repeat so I had a reference for the plot (go long-term memory!); I held conversations that lasted 2-sentences because, after that point, I would have no idea what we were talking about. Plus, I experienced full-body whiplash and could barely walk a block; forget about turning back.

Modern medicine’s emergency response, imaging, and pain killers served an important purpose. But after a month, it didn’t get me walking, let alone dancing. So, I took matters into my own hands. I started exploring physical therapy… chiropractic… myofascial bodywork… acupuncture…

My Why…

My explorations took me to medical school and, as an older student, I came with the desire to integrate care. I didn’t know what that meant at the time, but I knew how I began healing from the collision. I knew that health and wellness took a village. It took many modalities.

Still does!

Different modalities continue to serve me whether after a near-death childbirth, 3 more cars colliding (yup), ongoing osteoarthritis…or, just being a human with regular wear-and-tear. Trying one modality opens me to the next.

How do I know which to try? I listen to my body. I trust its wisdom. And the more I listen, the more I learn.

Listening to your body is akin to tapping into your gut sense, sixth sense, intuition…whatever you want to call it. You know when you got enough sleep. You know your runner’s high. You know when you feel well. Health and wellbeing is ultimately a sense.

Your sense.

To that extent, I’m here to help you let your body be your guide. There are so many ways to see yourself, so many ways to approach your health and wellbeing. I want to help you decide for yourself.

Starting with your body. Because it’s convenient. And your responsibility.

My Approach

My professional and personal experience with the body has resulted in a distinctive view of it. At the meta level:

  • You have a physical reality (e.g. your body, cells, tissues).
  • You have an energetic reality (e.g. your fields and forces).
  • They are intimately connected—different ways of viewing the same thing.

For whole health, we need to address all of you. It really is that simple.

Work With Me

You know that you have different parts that connect in different ways. A body, thoughts, feelings, more… My polymath perspective helps you better understand the network that makes you you. And then do something – actually, many aligned and intentional things – about it.

That said, it can be hard to know where to begin.

Fortunately, there’s no right or wrong.
There’s just your journey, and you’ve got a lifetime to live it.

To the best of my knowledge and ability, I will support it. In my own way, I’ve been where you are. So, I know that your body is your guide. And if the journey of health is possible for me it is for you, too.

Speaking
Topics

Everybody’s got a body. Which makes the body a topic that speaks to everyone.
(And the reason you’re able to speak, in the first place 😉)

My personalized approach leaves the audience with an inspired, ‘Hmmm. Wow. Really?’, as well as practices to do at home. Gotta walk your talk.

THE BODY
ELECTRIC

Your nerves conduct electricity, as does every cell in your body. This book, by surgeon Robert Becker, MD, presents a fascinating perspective on your body and its potential (pun intended).

JOINT
CIRCLES

Gentle joint circles are a great way to wake-up your mobility at the start or end of your day. Start with slow circles of our head (each way!), then shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles, toes. It’s 2-minutes that will shift your day.

Take

A GLOBAL BREATH

A deep breath is your birthright. It’s how you feed your cells (oxygen) and maintain your life force (prana). Yet, many of us are not doing it ‘right.’ Enjoy this technique (and old school video) that reminds your ribcage how to breathe better.
